IN LOVING MEMORY OF ANTHONY MELTON
Anthony Melton was born on June 8, 1969, to Zemenia McGregor Melton and the late James McArthur Melton aka ‘’Bob Steel”. Anthony accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and continued his walk with the Lord for over 50 years. Anthony’s educational start was in the New York public school system and continued in North Carolina earning a college degree. Anthony, who was better known as “Tony” to all who loved him, had such a zest for life. He LOVED his family. During his teenage years, Tony met his life partner Michelle Morris and reunited several years later. They always kept in touch, strengthening their relationship of 36 years. Tony especially loved his children. His daughters, Shaniece and Monet, who looked up to him. They knew if they were ever down, they could always count on him to make them smile. Their love for one another was solid. His son Daniel shared his love for great cuisine, cinema and together they were avid players of electronic, board and card games. Tony will forever be in his heart. Tony loved the community and Saint Marks Ave. He always considered the community as his extended family. He believed in giving back to the community who helped raise him. He loved organizing the mobile food pantry and making sure that everyone had ample food to eat. He even prepared recipe books for all mobile food pantry attendees, so that they could also share the joys of cooking. Tony also enjoyed dining out. He always loved trying new cuisines and coming home to recreate them as he made everyone in his path his taste testers. Tony enjoyed calculating numbers to play for the daily drawings. He mastered the game of Scrabble and loved showing off his vast database of words, as he quietly annihilated his opponent with a dimpled smile. He also enjoyed the game of Poker. He sometimes attended or hosted his very own house party games.
He also loved cologne and the latest fashionables. He especially loved to drive around in the car grooving with his two friends Rick Ross and Biggie Smalls. Anthony was also known as “Chef Tone” to all who enjoyed his special cuisines. He was especially proud of his famous cheesecakes & banana pudding that he made from scratch. Tony loved the Culinary Arts so much, so that he decided to go back to school, and he received his Culinary degree in 2015. Tony worked for the City of New York Homeless shelter culinary division and finally at Core Services Group just before taking ill, Tony was forced to give up his career and his love for cooking. Anthony Melton “Tony” was preceded by his dad James McArthur Melton, grandmother Ollie Mae, his two brothers Dexter Nelson and Victor Nelson, sister Sharon Denise Melton, beloved dog Pegasus and partner in crime his pet cat Rachel. He leaves to celebrate his life, his mother Zemenia McGregor, his life partner Michelle Morris, his children Shaniece Melton, Daeondria Judd, Daniel Edwards, beloved pets Sema, Coco and Mr Blacky. His sisters Tasela Melton, Monique Melton-Forrest (Kevin Forrest), Tanya Melton and brother Kawame Melton (Kiewander Melton). His grandchildren Jason Holder, Emmett Lynch, and Mattison Judd, nephews Marquise Melton, Victor Nelson Jr., Robert Melton, Pedro Anival Kawame Avila Jr. , Kassius Forrest, & K’mel Melton, nieces Yashaundra Gee, Chyna Melton, Jadah Julien, and Kimora Melton. His grand nephew and niece Senica Buckhannon Jr. and Milan Melton. Lastly, but not least, his honorary aunt Mary Francis McNair.
He will truly be MISSED……..
